Sorry I've not been here just lately, but I've been going through a bad patch with my jobsearch and benefits. I won't go into details, but the Jobcentres here have basically been told to find any way they can to strip people of the benefits they are rightfully entitled to, and so are fabricating "evidence" of lack of effort which they then use to suspend people's benefits for a month. And that's what has happened to me, so I've now got to try and survive the next four weeks with just the few pounds I have in my bank account and hope nothing unexpected crops up. To say this has made me very mad is a real understatement of the century, as I'm absolutely livid!!!

OMG, hun!!!!!! What happened? Can you talk about it? And is there anything I can do to help?? I've been seeing all these stories about people being told they're fit for work when they're clearly so disabled that it should be obvious to even the most stupid person in the world there's no way they can work, and how they'd been forcing unemployed people into working full 40-hour weeks in shops for no pay. But I never thought something like this would happen to you! Ooooh, that makes me sooooooooooooo mad!!!!!

Thanks, Jo, but I'm fine and handling it myself. It does mean I'm a bit distracted, but apart from that it's all OK and I'm coping with it all.

Apologies for not having been here for quite some time, but I've been rather busy setting up my own business, and that's kept me occupied with all of the stuff involved in doing that. In case you're wondering, I've set myself up doing guided walks around the Peak District, which combines all of the things I enjoy and know I'm good at. If you want to have a look at my website, the URL is www.derbysheritagewalks.com. Hopefully, now I've got things up and running, I'll be able to spend some time here with you all again! So how is everyone? Anything interesting happen while I've been away?

Adrian, hunnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awwww, it's so good to have you back with us, and yeah, I've missed you. Glad to see you're doing something for yourself, and I like what you are doing. Maybe I can even throw some business your way as well by having a word with friends in Manchester. So how've you been? Apart from being really busy, what else have you been up to?

It's been fairly hectic for me, Jo. Three months ago, my Dad hurt his knee while gardening. He went to see the doctor about it, but has done nothing except ignore everything the doctor told him to do and do the exact opposite, and then sit there complaining that he's not getting any better! Because of his knee, he can't drive, so I'm having to drive him and my Mum around to everywhere they need to go. On top of that, I'm having to do all of the heavy gardening, as he can't do any of that, plus all of the other jobs like that. So all of that, plus trying to get the business up and running, has left me with very little time for myself. And when I do have a spare moment, I'm usually so knackered, I just don't have the energy to do anything and usually just end up falling asleep!

Sounds like you are busy, hun! I've been keeping pretty busy myself, but not like that. And I hope your Dad gets better soon - Tell him from me that he's got to listen to the doctor if he's ever going to get well again.

I'll tell him, Jo - Although he doesn't listen to my Mum when she tells him.

Thanks, hun! Have you had a nice Christmas? Not too bad, thanks, Jo. Very quiet, as we don't really make anything special of it now there's nobody young enough to get excited about it. But it was nice to have a bit of a break and take things easy for a couple of days. So how was your Christmas? And am I imagining it, or is there something a little different about you now - Mrs Pearson??!!!

And am I imagining it, or is there something a little different about you now - Mrs Pearson??!!! I see you noticed, hun... Yeah, there is something a little different, as my b/f and I finally went and did it - After having been together since late 2006, and having lived together for the past six years, we finally got married on December 28th!!! So I'm no longer Ms Jo Brown, and am now officially Mrs Jo Pearson!! (OMG, I've finally grown up!!! ;D) And how was my Christmas & New Year? Well, fantastic - Apart from getting married, it's been a great time with both of our families together in the one place, and we've had so much fun. Yeah, I probably drank a bit too much at times (so what's new?), but even that didn't spoil things, and we've all really enjoyed ourselves.

Congratulations, Jo, and I'm really happy for you! It's certainly taken you a while, but you have finally done it. So how does it feel to be a respectable married woman? (Well, OK, a married woman - I'm not entirely sure you'd qualify for the rest with your past! ) And how have your friends and family taken it? And what a surprise that you managed to drink a little too much over Christmas - It wouldn't be the same without hearing that you did!
