How do I feel? Very relieved!! I'm really glad that it's all sorted out, and I know just what the price I've got to pay is (I was going to say "the price I've got to pay for my stupidity", but given the circumstances of what happened that night and why, I guess a few of you would have been telling me not to be so silly about it....).
For the past few weeks, it really has been like a huge weight on my shoulders, and that's gone now and I know I can start to get on with normal life again. OK, I've got to do the course, and I won't be able to drive anywhere when I'm home over Christmas, but I never really do drive much that time of year anyway... But, apart from that, I'm fine, and feeling a LOT happier than I have done in days!
I've certainly learned a lesson, and I'll be a lot more careful in future not to get stopped by the police drive if I've had more than the slightest bit to drink. And I hope you guys have learned too, both from me and from Mischa, and I certainly don't want to see any of you having to report that you've made the same mistake as the two of us have...

I'm glad it's all sorted out, Jo! $2,700??? That's a lot of money for a student!!! I hope it's not going to cause you any problems..... (Let's see - that's about 1,500 quid.... That's about what I had to last me an entire term when I was at uni!!!!! Oh, Jo!!! Are you going to be OK paying that??)

I know a lot of students do have a lot of money worries (a lot of my friends here in Manchester are like that), but I'm OK - Luckily, my dad has always had a really good job, and he's set all three of us up with our own (and I hate to use the phrase, given it's connection with certain wastes of space, but I guess it's the correct one) "trust fund". So I've always got that to fall back on whenever I need some extra cash for unexpected things like this. (And no, I'm not telling anyone how much is in my "trust fund"!!! )

Glad it's all over Jo, having to go to the classes over here pales in comparison to having to drop your course and take them there. It seems like a fair punishment, and I'm sure you'll fulfil your obligations. I bet you are breathing a sigh of relief, and so am I.

Thanks, Greg! Yeah, I'm very relieved it's all over - and that I've not got to go back home to do the course. And fair? Yeah, I guess so - If they'd pushed things to the limit of the punishments California law allows for even a first-time DUI, I could have ended up doing quite a bit of time in an orange jump-suit.....
