Moving an OT discussion over from the Media Vault:
And thanks for all the kind words, guys. Yeah, it really does suck with the make-up and stuff. It's not just black nailpolish I'm not allowed, its ALL nailpolish, and just about everything else too. All I'm really allowed is a little bit of lipstick (and no "loud colours" in that). Lipstick is the only make-up my mum uses, and so its all she allows me to use too. When I'm out with friends, I do sometimes borrow a bit of theirs, but I have to make sure I remember to clean it all off before I get home, because if I didn't and turned up at home still wearing it, I'd catch all kinds of hell for it!!
Its the same with how I'm not allowed to have my ears pierced. My mums never had hers done, and tried her best to talk me and my sister out of wanting ours done with stuff like "if we were meant to have holes in our earlobes, we'd have been born with them" and that kind of thing. But my sister was really insistant that she wanted to have hers done, so my mum and dad agreed that if we wanted to get our ears pierced, we could have them done when we were 16. Its really unfair, because all of my friends have got theirs done now, and I really want to get mine done too. I've thought about ignoring my parents and just getting them done now anyway, but I daren't. One time, I did get some of those magnetic studs you can get and that look like proper pierced earrings, and spent the day wandering around town wearing them. When I went home, I forgot I was wearing them and walking into the house without taking them off. As soon as my mum spotted them, she totally freaked because she thought I'd really had my ears pierced without her permission and demanded that I "take those things out immediately!!"!!!!! So I know that I've got to wait another 17 months or so before I can start to wear some proper make-up or go and have my ears done...
(BTW, Lozza, you're the same age as me - have you had your ears done yet, or have you got to wait too?)
