I posted these on the old forum, but figured that I may as well put them up here as well. Anyway, here's a few pictures I took over last summer of all around where I live in California, plus one or two older ones, showing some of my favourite places and things. Hope you like them!!! Bug Love:First of all, some pics of one of the things which is most precious to me - my gorgeous, beautiful white Bug : Isn't it lovely??? And I don't know what I'd do without it (I'd probably have to borrow my mom's car...). Hard to believe I've had it for five years now, and I still love it as much as I did the very first time I drove it to school... Sausalito:Here's a few shots of one of my favourite places in Marin County - Sausalito. This is just across the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, and used to be a fishing village. Now, it's quite a trendy place to live and hang out, and I love spending time there with my friends, window shopping or just watching the world go by. In fact, I love the place so much that, when my b/f and I get a place of our own, if we can't get one near where I live now, I want to try and get one somewhere in Sausalito... This is the houseboat community at Sausalito, which is one of it's best known features: These stone benches on the waterfront are one of my favourite places to hang out and people-watch: This is a panoramic view of the road from the bridge into Sausalito - I had to stitch two pictures together to make the panoramic view, but hopefully the join isn't too noticable!!: Tiburon:Like Sausalito, Tiburon is another old Marin County fishing village, which has now become a fashionable place to live. It's a bit further from the city than Sausalito, but has a direct ferry sevice across the bay. Mill Valley:Another of my favourite places to hang out, and closer to where we live than Sausalito and Tiburon, Mill Valley is another really nice part of Marin County.

And a few more... The coast:Unlike southern California, Marin County and the Bay Area aren't exactly noted for their beach life!! For one thing, the water is far too cold to do much swimming. We do, however, have Stinson Beach, which is where the first two pictures were taken - You'll notice the distinct lack of people swimming, even though it was a nice sunny day when we were there... Apart from places like Stinson Beach, much of the coast of Marin County is quite rocky, much like what you see in the third picture. Mount Tamalpais:One of the real high points of living in Marin County is Mount Tamalpais. Again, it's not really all that far from where we live, and I love going out there for a quiet afternoon walk with my b/f. The second pic is a view from the top, and you can probably see just why I was a bit worried about the news of the forest fires... City views:Just a couple of views of San Francisco - one from Marin County, and the other from on the Golden Gate Bridge. When they first see the view of the city from the bridge, most people are a bit surprised just how far it actually is between the two - I know I was! Golden Gate Park:Ahhh, Golden Gate Park - one of my favourite areas of the city. I love spending time there, just walking around or crashed out on the grass. The low mound in the third picture is probably my favourite spot in the park to just sit and relax, and is the famous "Hippie Hill", where all of the hippies used to gather back in the '60s... This is The Bandshell - one of the several concert venues in the park. I've seen quite a number of really great bands play there over the years. The Bridge:Probably the most famous landmark in the whole of the Bay Area is the Golden Gate Bridge. The first shot is a view from Marin County, with the city in the background. The second and third pictures show the marina just by the Marin County end of the bridge, where a lot of people keep their boats. (Oh no, what's that in the second picture??? It's a VW Campervan!!! I must not get on the roof... I must not get on the roof...) The last picture shows the bridge from on the beach at the city end, looking towards Marin County. Summer in the city:Ahh, summer in San Francisco, and one of my favourite areas of the city - Haight-Ashbury... Back in the '60s, this was where it all happened. And, walking around there even today, it's kind of like the '60s never ended!! The first picture is just of the H-A sign, so it's nothing really special. The shops in the second pic are probably the most photographed in the whole of the Haight-Ashbury area - can you guess why??? There's a lot of street artists in the area, and most of them are really talented. The guy in the third picture is one of the best around, and I've got a couple of his pictures up on my bedroom walls at home... The last two pictures are a couple of my favourite shops in the Haight. Over the years, I've bought loads of stuff from both of them, and the second one is where I've got a lot of my more 'boho' stuff from - and I bet Mischa would probably love it in there!!!! General views:Finally, just some general views which don't really fit anywhere else. The first is a general view over the SF Bay from Marin County - again, you can probably appreciate why I was concerned about the forest fires. And the second? That's a view from the Golden Gate Bridge of one of the city's other most famous (infamous) landmarks - The Rock... As is so typical of SF, the mist had dropped suddenly just before that pic was taken, and so you've not really got all that clear a view!!!

Yeah - I'm a lot more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it, and so's my b/f...
I guess it's a family thing - we've never really been one of those families who feel the need to document every single second of every single day and then post the pictures for all to see. When we take pictures, it's to remember the places we've been, and not what each other looks like - we've got hundreds of pictures of places we've been on holiday, but hardly any at all of each other while there (or anywhere else)! And, because of that, I do feel quite uncomfortable having cameras pointed at me, and that's why I've always turned down the various agency reps when they've approached me to ask if I'd ever thought about going into modeling. I don't mind having to stand up in front of a live audience and do stuff then, but I do have a problem with posing for a camera - it's just not me...

I love classic cars - I think they're so much cooler than the new stuff. And I've always grown up with them, because my mom and dad have always had them too. My sister is a bit different and drives a new Merc (she's always been the odd-one-out in the family), but my brother loves the classics too. As things are right now, I drive my Bug while I'm home in CA, and the Mini when I'm in Manchester. My brother actually rides a bike here in the UK, but he's got an MGB Roadster for when he's back home. My mom drives a classic Range-Rover (OK, it's a fairly new one, but they've not changed in design for years!!), or sometimes borrows my Bug if I'm not home! And my dad? Well... He's not long got his dream car - after years of trying to find a good example, he's just recently swapped his TVR Cerbera for a classic 1980s Aston-Martin V8 Vantage!!! So, as you can see, we all (apart from my sister) love our classic cars!!
