Mischa Barton joins CW's 'Beautiful Life'
“The O.C.” alumna Mischa Barton has been tapped to star in CW’s drama pilot “A Beautiful Life.”
The project, from CBS Par, revolves around a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.
Barton will play Sonja, a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping.
Barton can bring personal experience to the role as she has modeled for such companies as Calvin Klein, bebe stores, Aeropostale, Monsoon Accessorize, Dooney & Bourke and JC (Jeans and Clothes).
Barton was originally up for another CW drama pilot, “Melrose Place,” but that casting didn’t materialize.
Best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” Barton is repped by Paradigm. Mischa Barton joins CW's 'Beautiful Life'
Development Update Ashton Kutcher's CBS Paramount Network Television-based Katalyst Films has lined up a pair of drama projects at the netlet. First up is "The Beautiful Life," which centers on male and female models who live together in New York. Model-turned-writer Adam Giaudrone ("Swingtown") is penning the script, based on his own experiences, and will serve as a supervising producer. Carol Barbee ("Jericho") is also attached to executive produce. It's understood the lead characters will be Christopher, a 22-year-old "destined for the JC Penney catalog," and 15-year-old Reyna, "destined to become the next Heidi Klum," while the project itself will focus on the darker side of the modeling industry. Hold the excitement, guys - It just says it's "under development" at the moment, so there's no certainty anything will actually come of it.......

Adrian's right - If it's "in development", then there's no guarantee that it'll actually get to be made. Even if they do make the pilot episode, then the network has to like it enough to pick it up - And even then, they may ask for changes to the cast, so even if Mischa is in the pilot and the show gets picked up for a full run, she may not be in the show itself...
It's worth keeping an eye on, 'though - And maybe Mischa will say something about it on her site (assuming she's able to...).

OK - But let's remember that, for now, it IS just a pilot. Look at how many pilots get made, and you'll see only 50% of them at most make it any further - And even having Mischa on board is no guarantee of that...
So let's keep our fingers crossed for her, but don't get our hopes up too high for now.

Mischa Barton has been told to gain weight to keep her role in a new US TV show. Former 'The O.C.' actress Mischa has agreed to pile on the pounds after producers voiced concerns she had become too skinny. Mischa is understood to only be allowed to keep her part of Sonia, a model in 'A Beautiful Life', if she can keep her weight up. A source said: "The producers are very mindful that their target audience is teenage girls so it's important not to send the wrong message. "Mischa has the part on condition she does not lose weight - they want her to put weight on if she can." Concerns were raised last year after the 23-year-old actress was pictured looking gaunt. She previously said she is "obsessed with Pilates", but was quick to dismiss any concerns over her weight on her blog. She wrote: "Just so you guys know, I'm happier and healthier than ever. I've just been watching what I eat. "I still love my Pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really just helped me lose a little bit of weight but there's nothing drastic going on." Mischa has described her new character as: "A bitchy model-type character, like it's a totally different character for me." 'A Beautiful Life', produced by Ashton Kutcher, is based on his early experiences as a male model. The programme is set to air in the US later this year.
