To be honest with everyone, the DUI isn't really the issue - it's such a common thing, and the jails in California are so full, that most people don't serve any time for just a straight DUI. Sure, it's not a wise thing to do, and I'm sure we're all a bit disappointed at Mischa for doing it, but it has become so common in society that, like speeding, it's kind of seen as something of a "non-crime" now. (And I'm willing to admit that there've been times in the past when I've driven even though I've been totally smashed - I'm not proud of doing it, and make sure I don't do it now, but I know how easy it is to make the mistake. And that's why I've got a lot of sympathy for Mischa over this, because I've been there myself, and it could so easily have been me, and not her, facing a day in court for it.) So, as things currently are in California, it's only really if you have other issues involved too that jail time becomes a possibility. And, sadly, we do have to remember that, if the initial reports were true, and if her legal team haven't been able to do anything about them, Mischa may well have some of those "other issues" to answer for. So does that mean jail time for her? Maybe - it all depends upon the substances and amounts involved. That's something we won't know until Thursday at the earliest. And I'm sure we've all got our own views on that subject too. Some of you, I'm sure, are totally 100% anti-drugs, while others have a more open attitude and think that, while some are OK (for example, pot), others are a definite no-no... Personally, I fall squarely into the second group, as I'm willing to admit to smoking the occasional joint (hell, even my dad smokes it, and doesn't mind me smoking it too!!), but I've seen what the harder stuff can do to people, and so there's no way I'd ever touch that stuff now. And I've got to admit that, if the as-yet unidentified controlled substance Mischa was reported to be in possession of should turn out to be something hard, it would make me look at her a bit differently. I would be very disappointed in her for that, because she's always been so sensible up to now. But I know what the kind of lifestyle and pressures she's exposed to can do to even the most sensible of people, so I guess I could probably forgive her for making such a stupid mistake. Now, I know some of you are going to have different opinions on that, and please feel free to voice them in a sensible manner if you feel the need. But please try to respect the opinions and views of others when you do - although I do think we should just leave things here as they are and let this thread fade away, don't you? Come on, guys, let's stop arguing between ourselves and turn our energies towards something more constructive - like supporting Mischa when she really needs us the most! OK? OK!

I honestly don't see what the point was of making this thread. it's no surprise the discussion got heated-- look at the topic!
i agree with Jo. Of course we all have opinions, but I don't see how bringing up this topic on a Mischa fan forum would do any good at all.

Bumping it ten days after it was supposed to be left alone wasn't a good idea either.
EDIT: a couple of weeks, actually.
