She could have been using some, but got unlucky. It doesn't matter what method you use, there's none which is completely 100% effective. So, even if you DO use contraception, there's always a slight chance you could be unlucky and end up pregnant. i've informed myself very well about that topic and actually i think you can avoid getting pregnant if you combine contraceptives... i guess the birth control pill with a condom can protect you nearly to a 100%... Oh yeah, stuff like that does improve your chances even more - but there's still a small chance you can be unlucky. As any doctor will tell you, the pill isn't 100% effective, and condoms do sometimes split. So you could find yourself in a situation where something has reduced the effectiveness of the pill, and you have a condom split on you - and, before you know it, you're puking your guts up every morning and eating raw coal in the evening!!! With my false alarms, the first time I was being rather silly and not really taking all that much care - but I was only just turned 16 myself at the time and in the middle of my "wild period" when I did a LOT of stupid things. However, the second time, I WAS on the pill and taking a lot of care (the first false alarm really scared me, and I've been ever so careful since then), but I still thought I could have been and got as far as having to pee on that little bit of plastic. And, even though that came up negative, I still went to the doctor just to make sure, and it turned out it was something else entirely...

Yeah, I did get a bit drunk on fairly regular occasions, but my "wildness" was mainly doing other stuff like going "van surfing" - riding (along with my two best friends) on the roof of a VW campervan as my then-b/f drove it at about 30 miles per hour along Fulton Street in San Francisco at 3am!!!... And I did other stupid stuff like getting involved with some quite dangerous older guys who were into some fairly dodgy stuff, and that kind of thing. Looking back, I'm not proud of some of the things I did back then - I admit that I did sleep around a bit & didn't really take that much care, and there were also some less-than-legal chemicals involved too. But I AM proud of the fact that I made it through intact (although how, I just don't know!!!), straightened myself out, graduated school with some pretty good grades, and am now where I am. Yeah, I was young and stupid, and given the chance, I'd probably do things a bit differently, but I do think that the experience made me a lot stonger, and helped me know myself a lot better.

Casey Aldridge is not the father of Jamie Lynn Spears' unborn child, according to reports.
Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister announced last week that she is pregnant with her boyfriend Aldridge's baby.
But it has been alleged that the 19-year-old is being paid to act as a cover-up for the real father, who could face charges because he is an older man.
US magazine Star suggested that Jamie Lynn and Aldridge have an on-off relationship and that the real dad could work on Spears' US television show Zoey 101.
An insider claimed: "Casey is being paid off to be the family's fall guy while the real father remains unidentified. The man many suspect is the father, however, would face charges and probably prison time if he were to come forward and admit he had sex with her."

The plot thickens... Of course, that's one of the things I've never been able to get used to about the US - For somewhere that claims to be the "land of the free", the country has some of the daftest laws around when it comes to sex and related subjects. What's being talked about here are laws which really do exist and say that if you are a certain age, you are only allowed sexual partners who are between certain ages. There's even somewhere in the US which once passed a local law banning sex altogether - even within marriage!!!!!

I really do feel sorry for her - Some of the girls I was at school with had babies that young, and they've now got no life of their own at all...
But maybe if she'd been a bit more careful, she wouldn't be in this position - although, as Jo's pointed out, maybe she just got unlucky.
