You don't need to have been born here, hun! I wasn't, and things are pretty good for me now. And, of course, Mischa wasn't either, and look where she is now!!!
(And, much as I love the UK, I've got to say that I'm pretty sure neither I nor Mischa would have had the chances we've had and done the things we've done if we'd stayed there...)

Depends which part of New York, hun - the bit where my sister and her hubby live is really nice and I don't mind going there, but there's other bits I really hate and try to avoid as much as possible...

Personally, I'm not too keen on Manhattan - It's a bit too crowded for me! I can stand it for a while (especially if I'm shopping... ;D), but I prefer the quieter areas...

That's the American Dream hun! Sometimes I think about that too. In live in US. But now, I actually prefer Europe I love european historical places like UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany...and Portugal (my country). The architecture is so amazing, the big cities are so romantic (Paris, Rome, Milan, Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid..) and the quality of life is good in some of these. The oportunities in US are vast. Sure! but I prefer Europe. Make a search about the big cities of Europe you'll fall in love!

Sure! but I prefer Europe. Make a search about the big cities of Europe you'll fall in love! Yeah, I know what you mean, and I think I get the best of both worlds... Where we live now, in Marin County, is just sooooo gorgeous, and we're really lucky to live here - it's actually the richest county per head of population in the whole US, with the average house price well over $1,000,000 (I'm always a bit wary of telling people how much our house cost...) and people like George Lucas, Sean Penn and Robin Williams living here. But, despite that, it doesn't have the same artificial "plastic" feel as Beverly Hills and places like that. And although it's so quiet and beautiful, it's less than an hour from my favourite US city - San Francisco... But, at the same time, I also get to live in the UK too, with all the history and everything there. Yeah, the life I have in California is AMAZING, and I've had so many wonderful chances to do stuff - many of which I'd never have had in the UK. But, at the same time, I do find some aspects of US culture definitely inferior to European culture - and often very sterile, artificial or contrived. So what I try to do is take the best from each, and combine them into something that works for me...
