I thought that we should have a thread to discuss the film, while being fair to those who haven't seen it yet, or may not be able to watch it from the link that Joyce posted.
Did anyone notice that there was a hawk at the end of the film? There was a hawk at the end of "Lost and Delirious" also. And I have a question about the blue dress that Shirley MacLaine was wearing in the last scene. Was it the same dress that Mischa was wearing earlier in the film?

I wanted to say everything that I liked about the movie. But yeah I wasn't saying it because it wouldn't be fair for those who haven't seen it yet. Yes.. I actually loved it. I love Hawks.. If they're around I could stare at them for hours.. Yes I think it is, if you look close you see that she kinda kept everything from the past. - I love this movie so much. I thought Mischa would be in more scenes.. but it was great. Oh, for 5 minutes I was really confused.. when mr. Quinlan gave Jimmy the money to go to the US. "I want to know how she's doing" for a few minutes I was actually scared that he was Teddy.. but that would be too weird, it was totally unexpected for me that he actually met Teddy when Teddy crashed. Oh and Jimmy's grandma was that girl that Jack met at the bar, that was so weird. It's a real lovestory.. that she kept all those pictures andso behind that wall. <3333 And had to cry at the end so many times.. when Jack screamed "ETHEL!!!!!!" and when Teddy said "Tell her that she's free" and in the final end.. when Ethel finally cries.... and when they hug.

Yeah, I thought that Quinlan could be Teddy also. It was really well put together, and I wish that there was more money behind the film for promotional purposes. It would be a hit if it opened wide in the US (if it EVER opens in the US )

Yes it was definitly a good film. Maybe they're waiting for the money they get from Europe to let it open in the US. Because you can see that the movie has cost a lot of money. All those plains and the crashes. Not to mention the actors. Only Mischa is very 'expensive' to hire as for Gregory Smith. Not to mention Shirley Maclaine and Christopher Plummer

The production cost had to be pretty high.

Hey sorry I moved this threas to the Resume, I hope it's ok hubby? It's always a Mischa movie hehe Anyway I didn't read any of your prev comments yet but I anyway wanted to share mine because...... Well WOAH. I don't even know where to start. Seriously. INSANELY MIND-BLOWING. Yes, the movie. YES, MISCHA. Probably her BEST performance so far. She was just WOWWWWWW everytime she was on I immediately started crying but not like bawling just a flood of silent tears down on my face...add this to my jaws hitting the floor and you have a complete FOOL in love, lol. I LOVED Shirley's performance, she's such a GREAT actress! That's why I feel SO proud of our Meesh who got to work so close to her! I remember her saying she was able to watch all her scenes first and I think you could really see how young and old Ethel-Ann perfectly matched *.* I really adored old Jack as well, he was...I don't know, like a reasurring presence, being the only one still alive with Ethel... on the other hand I wasn't too enthusiastic of his son and Neve Campbell (I guess because she shipped Chuck/Ethel while we're all on Team Teddy instead lol ) Back to Mischa: I think she was really PERFECT for the role...it's so impressive how she really looked like a girl from the '40s also in the b/w pictures awwww and what about the pic Teddy kept with him on his plane (ultimate SQUEEEE, like I keep a pic of Mischa in my wallet lol) The wedding scene was AMAZING how they exchanged the same ring awww (so many tears) and don't even get me started on the "let me smell you" scene!! I think I rewinded it like 27 times XXD she absolutely managed to convey how totally LOST in Teddy she was, she made you feel what REAL LOVE is!! OMG bows to her forever!! And she should win an Oscar just for the silent scene where she starts crying. That was as INTENSE as hell, and Mischa made it so natural!! I thought/hoped we could see more flashbacks 'though the scenes with Mischa and the 3 guys were so beautiful! (No wonder they were all in love with her lol) also, the dude from Everwood surprised me (in a positive way, I liked him a lot, he owned Chuck 10 times) As regards the Irish part....someone gimme subtitles!! LMAO how the hell do they speakkkk O___o I still have to fully get the spying on the mountain and so on (I think it's related to the Eire issue...the militar occupation of Belfast in 1991?) anw that was a bit boring...but not the part of the ring! So AMAZING. I freaking loved how every character, American and Irish eventually found themselves linked one to the other...like the blonde woman Jack had decided to marry was the boy's grandma (right? lol), the boy to the ring to Ethel to the older man whom Teddy was about to give the ring before dying....and that promise...woah if only Ethel had known he let her free to choose....her life would have been so different...or maybe she would have married Chuck anyway who knows....or better, Jack! Ah. And I don't know if it's just me but the end reminded me SOOOO MUCH of the end of Lost and Delirious!!! The hawk(s)! Don't tell me no one noticed!! *____* Uhm ok I think I'm done for now, there was probably so much more I cared to say about this amazing movie but for now just... THANK YOU RICHARD ATTENBOROUGH!

Maybe Ashley can translate for you??? ;D (That's one thing about the part of Manchester where we are - there's loads of Irish people about, so I'm really used to hearing and understanding that kind of accent...)
