My all time favorite movie is "American Graffitti". Know the dialog and the songs pretty much by heart. Just one of those movies that loved from when I was a kid and still do to this day.
Almost Famous n Dazed & Confused come in at # 2 and 2a

Well, Irvin, you do know that I live about 12 miles or so from Chatsworth House, where the film is set and the Devonshires still live to this day, don't you? Not only that, but I used to work for the Arkwright Society at Cromford Mill, and the president of the society is the current Duke of Devonshire (I met his father when he was president and visited the mill in 1988...) - Plus, one of the things I used to tell people about when I was showing them around on the tours there was how Georgiana ran up a huge gambling debt, which she paid off by borrowing money from the Arkwrights so that the family wouldn't lose Chatsworth. And did you know that the Devonshires also have a family link to JFK? His sister, Kathleen, married one of the family, who was killed in WW2. When she died in a plane crash in 1948, she was buried in the family plot in Edensor, near the house, and JFK visited her grave while on a state visit to the UK. They also have a lot of other well-known relatives, like Stella Tennant and Max Mosley.

Actually, I had no idea that you lived in that area, Adrian. That's really interesting! I would love to see Chatsworth House. Have you seen the film? The acting was superb, and I felt like I was actually there! Keira Knightley is extremely beautiful!

I've lived in the area all my life. And you'd love it at Chatsworth - I've not been there for a long time (the last time was in 2003, when Cromford Mill was featured in the BBC's "Restoration" show and we went there to try and drum up some support from the visitors), but it's very spectacular, and well-deserves it's nickname of "the palace of the peaks". And yes, I have seen the film. Not a bad effort really, but I think it left out a lot of the more interesting stuff about her. And what I'd love to see is a film about one of her predecessors as duchess, the amazing Bess of Hardwick, who was the second most powerful woman in England next to Elizabeth the First! Just to put things in perspective for you concerning my location and how close I am to Chatsworth, I've done a little map for you... Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Good map, Adrian! I guess if I were to meet you and Jo someday, we would meet in Congleton. ;D Congleton? Oh no, Irvin, you wouldn't want to go there - It's in Cheshire!!! Seriously, if something like that ever happened, the ideal meeting place would probably be somewhere like Bakewell - It's about halfway between Jo and myself, on the main road between us, it's close to Chatsworth, and you'd have the chance to try a genuine Bakewell Pudding (which is nothing like the "Bakewell Tarts" you may have seen in the shops - there's no icing sugar and cherry on top of these!!...)...
